Aloha Beth,
OK, yes. I make coconut kefir and yogurt every week. For the water you just do it like regular milk kefir. You need to use a kefir starter. Then for the meat, you need to blend it in the Vita Mix with a little bit of water. Blend until really smooth, then add about 1/3 cup of the water kefir (that has already been made) to this blended coconut mixture. Mix well and make sure it is slightly warm. Then put into a jar and cap the jar tight and let sit for about 15 to 20 hours. Only fill the jar about half way because the mixture will rise. Be careful when you open it as it can blow. Good luck!!!

Good question. I do not think so, but possibly if the water had some sugar or fruit juice in it. Give it a try and let us know. Thank you!!

Hello, I would like to share with everybody the easiest way of making kefir without kefir starter, which quite expensive. This the old recipe from my country , Russia, which I use in here. Because I use the milk from supermarket, which is pasturized, I need to have a starter. I found out that the only great for this would be buttermilk, which works perfectly and fast.Basicly, you need it just once, in the beggining, and after you will be using kefir , which you will make, as a starter for the next portion. Warm a cup of milk ( about body temperatura ) and add 1-2 teaspoons buttermilk, mix together and leave not covered ( or you can use cheese cloth ) in the kitchen . It will be ready in about 8-10 hours. I usualy do it late evening before go to sleep. In the morning it's ready. After I eat my cup of kefir in the evening ( that's the Russian tradition to eat kefir before going to sleep, especialy with babies and kids. Don't know why, but that's how we all grow up and I still do it. My dog loves kefir as well, by the way! ) I take a little bit of kefir and make new cup for the next day, so I always have fresh starter. Enjoy!
